In 2019, after stopping the re-powering of 3 gas-fired power plants, Mayor Garcetti declared the beginning of the end of natural gas, and directed the LA Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to press ahead in their 100% Renewable Energy Study.
Now, as the study comes to a close, the City of Los Angeles has reached a pivotal moment in determining its climate future. With compounding crises at its doorstep, the City must do more than simply invest in clean energy — it must invest in its people!
We need a transition that rapidly moves us to 100% clean energy by 2030 — but just as importantly, we need a transition that will create green jobs, address historic injustices, and provide real solutions that support a just recovery from COVID-19. For too long our city’s energy policy has served to maintain an extractive and dangerous status quo — the people of Los Angeles have a right to lead!
Join us to learn more about the study, what decisions are being made this year, and how YOU can be a part of ensuring that community leadership is at the heart of the city's process.
